Stainless Steel Threaded Fittings. Which Kind of Thread?

.wp-image-552{display:none;}threaded fittings

Stainless steel is used also as material for the fittings production (threaded fittings). An example? The use of stainless steel is optimal for the construction and assembly of low-pressure pipes.

Threaded fittings. What are they?

The threaded fittings in stainless steel AISI 304 and 316 can be derived from:

  • Pipe
  • Rod

The threaded fittings derived from pipe.

The threaded fittings derived from pipe are mainly characterized  by a male thread.

Furthermore, the original material can be a pipe:

  • Electrowelded (optimal for low-pressures)
  • Without weld or perforated rod (optimal for high-pressures)

The threaded fittings derived from rod.manicotti1.jpg

The stainless steel  threaded fittings derived from rod, mechanical pipe or hexagon, are mainly characterized from a female parallel pipe thread.

This one can be in accordance with:

  • UNI 338 (optimal for low-pressures)
  • NPT – American Standard Pipe Thread Taper ( optimal for high-pressures)

But which are the main differences between these standards? The differences concern only grade and pitch (that is the distance between the coils).

How to carry out the assembly?

The assembly of the stainless steel threaded fittings is carried out by the combination between male and female threads. Let  your customers note that the threads, mainly,  appears as parallel pipe (ISO 228/1) or taper pipe (ISO 7/1) with dimensions according to ISO 4144.
